BJ had to work in Vegas last week and was leaving on Valentine's Day. Now, we are not huge Valentine's Day celebrators in our family, but leaving on Valentine's Day? That's just sad. But, after breaking the news to me that he would be leaving, he totally surprised me by inviting me to come along! Sarah, Tai and Jera helped us out by watching our girls and we spent three days in Vegas. While BJ worked during the day, I shopped. And we all know that I love shopping. When he was done working, we got to hang out. We went to a magic show at the Aladdin where the guy made himself and the huge motorcycle he was on disappear from a hanging cage up on the stage and reappear at the back of the auditorium! We also went to BJ's favorite restaurant; Todai. It is a sushi buffet. Turns out... I don't like sushi. So, the next night we played it safe. In-n-Out burgers and a salad from Wendy's was our fancy meal the next night :) Before we started our trek home on Saturday, I convinced BJ to go get a pedicure with me, which was a totally new experience for both of us. After soaking our feet for a few minutes, a girl who worked at the nail salon came and sat in front of BJ and asked, pink or red? We both looked at her a little funny. She said, "Polish. Pink, red, a different color?" Hesitantly, I asked, "Does he have to have a color?" She laughed and said, "No! For you! Which color?" Okay, that made a lot more sense. I think BJ was really starting to wonder what I had gotten him into there for a minute :)

joshua tree...
Oh, and the picture above is a picture of a Joshua Tree from a spot along our drive up. All of a sudden, thousands of these trees popped up along the highway. Then, after just a few miles, they were gone.

HA!!! BJ must really love you to go get a pedicure! Aren't they GREAT? I don't think I could get Chris even CLOSE to a nail salon, let alone in the chair! I wish I could have seen BJ's face when they asked about polish - you were in Vegas...it's probably a normal thing there! What a fun weekend! :)
ah, so that's a joshua tree. I was just reading about one today in The Glass Castle, and had no idea what they were.
sounds like your VDay went better than mine. we ended up having a huge blizzard so since my boyfriend lives half an hour away we were both snowed into our respective places.
